Mom's Indian Style Tapioca

Tapioca known as cassava, manioc or yuca is a staple food for millions of people around the world. It has been used since the 15th century as part of our diet. We can consume the leaves as well.The leaves are high in protein and vitamins.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups tapioca ( Boiled)
  • 1 big onion thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 green chilly
  • 5 dried chilies
  • 3 stalks of curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp of oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp of Black pepper

Method

  1. Boiled the tapioca for 15 minutes .Discard the water. Cool it. Smash it with fork . If you don’t have boiled tapioca.
  2.  Add the oil in the pan, add mustard seeds, ginger garlic paste, dried chillies and the onions . Saute it for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the Cumin, chopped green chillies  and curry leaves and the tumeric, salt and black pepper. Saute it for another 2 minutes.
  4. Add the smashed tapioca into the pan and mix it well for few minutes all well combined.
  5. Enjoy it as warm or as cold dish.
