Lite Black Eyed Bean

For 1500 years, eating black-eyed peas on New Year’s has been thought to bring prosperity and good luck. Wow. Amazing right? So, here we are introducing this food which mainly comprises of black eyes peas or commonly known as cowpeas packed with high protein and fibre. Micronutrients such as thiamine, iron and folate are prominent in this food.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup of precooked black eye bean / cowpeas
  2. 2  tsp of tumeric
  3. 1 small onion chopped 
  4. ½ tsp of black pepper 
  5. 1 tsp of cumin 
  6. 3 dried chilies or 1 tsp of chili flakes 
  7. ½  tsp of oil and 1/4 Cup of water

Method

  1. Add the oil and ladd the cumin 
  2. Add the chopped onion and water 
  3. saute it till becomes translucent 
  4. Add the Turmeric and chili and stir for a minute. 
  5. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix it well for 1 minute.
  6. Serve it warm and enjoy
